The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. Department of State (State) are implementing a coordinated Partner Vetting System (PVS) pilot program that was congressionally mandated in the FY 2012 Appropriations Act.  USAID is implementing the pilot program in Guatemala, Kenya, Lebanon, the Philippines, and Ukraine.

The key to a strong democracy and transparent government is a robust media and civil society sector. USAID’s Afghan Civic Engagement Program (ACEP) will ensure that Afghan citizens are well informed about the actions and performance of government institutions and officials, and that they have the means to freely influence public policy and advocate for political reform.

The Agricultural Credit Enhancement (ACE) program (July 2010 – February 2015) established and managed the Agricultural Development Fund (ADF) until it was transferred to the Afghan government. Throughout its course the program provided $60.7 million in loans directly benefiting more than 31,000 farmers.

The Early Grade Reading Survey project will acquire data and information on student reading ability in primary and community-based education schools, providing key information for the Ministry of Education and the international donor community to reform and improve early grade reading instruction.

The U.S. Agency for International Development’s Low Emissions Asian Development program works with regional governments, businesses and institutions toward sustainable, low-carbon economic development, or “green growth,” across all economic sectors. The five-year program promotes regional cooperation to develop and implement low emission development strategies, improve greenhouse gas inventories and advance carbon markets in 11 countries: Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

USAID’s Health for Life Logistics project will strengthen Nepal’s existing health logistics management systems to ensure sustained availability of essential health commodities in facilities across Nepal.

The USAID-supported Fertility Awareness for Community Transformation (FACT) Project is a five-year, global research, intervention, and technical assistance project that is developing and testing unique interventions in Nepal, India, Rwanda, and Uganda.
