It has unparalleled natural resource wealth, including cobalt, copper, gold, tantalum, tin, diamonds, petroleum, and water. However, extensive corruption, weak institutions and human capacity, coupled with a lack of basic infrastructure, mean that the pace of development for the average citizen remains slow.
