eCONOMIC development
- Microloan Recipients in Bethlehem Receive Awards: USAID and the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce organized a discussion and an award ceremony with representatives from the Bethlehem region business and financial community. During the event, financial awards were distributed to the three best micro-borrowers who benefited from USAID funded loan capital. The Deputy Minister of National Economy Naser Touboub participated in the event and observed USAID sponsored holiday activities in Bethlehem.
Democracy and Governance
- A New Park and a Community Hall Completed in a Jenin Village: USAID completed the construction of a public park in the village of Deir Ghazala in Jenin, as well as the rehabilitation of the village’s community hall. The project provided the park with natural grass, an irrigation network, tiles, a lighting system, and toys for the children. USAID also supported the $130,885 renovation of the community hall, which generated 300 days of employment for the residents of the village and the surrounding areas.
- Six Youth Clubs Ready to Serve the Young People of Jenin: USAID, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, helped to improve the services of six youth clubs in the Jenin Governorate. Four clubs were outfitted with computer labs and IT equipment, while other clubs received sports equipment and office furniture. The project also helped to rehabilitate the Rummana village sports field. USAID’s total contribution to the clubs was $236,000.
