Program Overview

The purpose of this project is to support multi-media education and outreach programs in Israel, East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza (situation permitting) in order to showcase the range of efforts on the part of civic leaders to resolve the ongoing conflict.  Through increased exposure, it is anticipated that the civic leaders profiled by Just Vision will have greater credibility within their respective societies, greater access to the media and influential figures, larger numbers of supporters and volunteers, and increased leverage to spread their messages of peace and non-violence.  This is a 3 year project with a $1,121,500 USAID investment.

Goals

Just Vision recognizes that there are hundreds of people who are already seasoned with regard to the challenges and opportunities in the realm of conflict resolution. Just Vision believes there is an urgent need to share these peace builders’ and non-violent leaders’ hard-won experiences with others, to promote those initiatives that are successful, and to encourage broader publics to get involved – either by joining existing initiatives or by innovating tired models from a place of knowledge.

The first step in that process is for someone to document the efforts that currently exist – warts and all – without romanticism or embellishment.

The next step is to publicize these stories so that the broader public can grapple with the issues raised.

Finally, the third step is to empower those successful initiatives so that they gain more traction. Just Vision is involved in all three stages of this trajectory.
