Program Overview

All for Peace radio advances an independent communications platform for cross-border dialogue which might otherwise not take place in the mainstream Palestinian and Israeli media debate. Through a joint Israeli-Palestinian radio station, the program's tailored activities provide a public platform for civil society messages of reconciliation and peace that will reach larger numbers and non-traditional constituencies in Israeli and Palestinian societies. In order to build trust and enable conflict mitigation and reconciliation, All for Peace radio exposes each side to the other’s diverse views and narratives, providing an alternative perspective to the prevalent public discourse. USAID is investing $560,000 over a 2 year period to support this program.

Approaches

  • Use of the international language of music in order to attract younger audiences who may not be prone to exposure of peace messages;

  • Cultural content that reveals information from unexpected perspectives;

  • Programs hosted by representatives of the target listening groups themselves, in order to raise sympathy and self-identification among the listeners, increasing their ownership and investment in the program;

  • Combination between local news and information that is of interest to the non-traditional listeners with peace and dialogue messages and exposure to the other side's narrative, to ensure that the program successfully captivates the audience's attention and interest over time;

  • Online retrospective of Palestinian/Israeli jointly produced films.
