REPORT ON MISSION PROGRAM ACHIEVEMENTS
WEEK OF JUNE 28, 2011
Over 100 Enroll in Anti-Money Laundering Program in the West Bank: To combat money laundering and illegal financial transactions, USAID has partnered with the Palestinian Institute for Financial and Banking Studies to offer a course for certifying anti-money laundering compliance officers. The course gives commercial financial sector companies the opportunity to locally accredit their legally-required compliance officers for a modest tuition fee. Prior to the launch of this program, companies had to enroll staff in expensive international programs.
Teaming Up to Spruce Up a West Bank Health Clinic: In the Bani Naim village near Hebron, health clinic staff members and volunteers from the clinic’s partner community-based organization spend a day refurbishing the clinic. Bani Naim is one of twelve Hebron-district communities participating in the Champion Community Approach implemented by USAID’s health project in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Health to improve quality of and access to health services and aims to create dynamic linkages between primary health-care clinics and the communities they serve. This project is part of USAID’s overall efforts to partner with the Palestinian Ministry of Health to improve the quality of, and access to, services for all Palestinians. |
