Unic Plus Online makes licensing easier for small businesses in Cahul, Moldova. A one-stop shop like Unic Plus Online creates a more fertile environment for business start-ups that encourages new investment, strengthens communities and generates new jobs and economic growth.

Following the lead of Moldova's national regulatory reform program, the city of Cahul has focused its efforts on removing barriers to business development locally, sparking a remarkable change. No longer are entrepreneurs and bureaucrats locked in a process that lacked transparency and wasted time and effort. Excessive licensing requirements for start-ups have been lifted, and service companies are no longer able to stifle entrepreneurs and push new business into the informal sector. Gone are the days when it took three months for a business to get a license that had to be renewed every year.

With the support of USAID, Cahul has established the first online one-stop shop for business registration in Moldova — Unic Plus Online. This groundbreaking system accelerates business growth by allowing Cahul businesses to seek and obtain trade licenses quickly, cheaply and predictably.

Unic Plus Online greatly reduces the time and money business start-ups have to invest in obtaining necessary local authorizations from the health, fire, and police departments, as well as the tax bureau and the mayor's office.

The availability of a one-stop shop like Unic Plus Online creates a more fertile environment for business start-ups that encourages new investment, strengthens communities and generates new jobs and economic growth.
