USAID works on behalf of Americans to improve the lives of people throughout the world. Yet few of us get the chance to personally see the tremendous impact of its work or meet the individuals, families, and communities who benefit from American assistance.

Telling Our Story is our effort to let everyone see the impact of USAID’s work and meet the people whose lives it changed – it is also their effort to say “thank you” for America’s help.

Spotlight: Empowering Communities and Citizens

A strong community can make an enormous difference in people’s lives. In the stories featured below, USAID helped strengthen communities and citizen networks with results that speak for themselves. From negotiating for affordable health care to learning to respond to natural disasters on their own, these communities have shown that there truly is strength in numbers.
