USAID Administrator Shah Delivers Major Global Health Address at the National Institutes of Health

WASHINGTON, D.C. - On February 15th, USAID Administrator Dr. Rajiv Shah will deliver the David E. Barmes Global Health Lecture at the National Institutes of Health. This appears to be the first address to NIH staff at-large by a sitting USAID Administrator. In his remarks, Dr. Shah will chart a course forward for President Obama's Global Health Initiative and issue a challenge to the development community around five transformational goals.

About the Barmes Global Health Lecture
The David E. Barmes Global Health Lecture series honors the late David Edward Barmes, special expert for international health at the NIDCR. Prior to joining NIDCR, Dr. Barmes, a public health dentist and epidemiologist by training, served in senior management positions related to oral health, health promotion, and non-communicable diseases at the World Health Organization in Geneva. The lecture series was established by the NIDCR and Fogarty in 2001 to honor his lifelong dedication to research aimed at improving health for those in low-income countries.
