ADS Chapter 252 - Visa Compliance for Exchange Visitors

The revision of ADS 252, Visa Compliance for Exchange Visitors, supersedes the previous version in its entirety. The changes to this chapter are both substantive and editorial. The revision clarifies the roles of the Responsible Officer (RO) and the Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) in section 252.2; adds an exception to the J-1 visa for holders of B-1/B-2 Border Crossing Cards or B-1/B-2 Border Crossing Visas; in 252.3.1, clarifies which ADS 252 provisions remain applicable when a visa other than J is used; in 252.3.3, adds a validity period for the Security Risk and Fraud Inquiry; in 252.3.5.2, adds a requirement for R3-Approvers to maintain their roster of R2-Verifiers; in 252.3.9, mandates which documents must be uploaded to exchange visitor VCS files, and which are optional for uploading; and, adds section 252.3.10 pertaining to visa compliance verification. Other provisions have been revised for clarity.

The ADS reference number for this mandatory internal reference has been changed from 253mae to 252maa to more accurately reflect its direct association with ADS 252.
