Project Description

This project is developing and strengthening institutional capacity in public health training and research. Public health professionals are provided training in relevant public health areas along with professional development opportunities. The project is also establishing linkages with international institutions and developing degree programs in public health-related fields.

Results To Date

• Six degree and certificate programs initiated: Certificate Program in Health Human Resources; PhD in Public Health; M.S. in Health Economics and Management; Diploma on Medical Entomology and Vector Disease Control; M.S. in Health Economics Management; Extended M.S.in Public Health
• 2,500 people trained through international and national short-term workshops, conferences and seminars o
• Research and Development Department established
• Field Demonstration Area in Mandra established in collaboration with Human Development Research Foundation
• Research Center for Medical Entomology and Vector Disease Control Program established
• Statistical software packages SAS, SPSS and STATA installed in computer labs for student/faculty use.
• Peach Tree Accounting Software installed in institute's financial management office.
• 40 Laptops provided to full-time Master's students and faculty of HSA for academic and research purposes.
• Six new full-time faculty hired in human resource and training
• Scholarships provided to 36 full-time students and 19 research grants awarded.
• Established the Pakistan Health Economics Network (PHEN)
• Service Rules for the Health Services Academy issued by the Federal Government
• Research and Development Wing declared as a regional hub for HRH capacity building
• Field Demonstration Area established
• Pakistan Public Health Association established
• Financial management rules for the Health Services Academy issued by the Federal Government
