the U.N., the earthquake destroyed as much as 80 to 90 percent of cities and villages in the most affected areas.
The Government of Pakistan reported that the earthquake killed more than 73,000, injured nearly 70,000, and left

of Pakistan since October 10 working with the national and local authorities, U.N. agencies, and non-governmental

U.S. assistance. A USAID region advisor traveled to affected areas of India immediately after the earthquake and
again in November to monitor the progress of USAID-funded programs. Immediately following the earthquake, USAID
airlifted emergency relief supplies to earthquake affected areas.
