Research
While many lifesaving technologies are already available
to save mothers? lives, additional understanding of the most cost-effective
approaches that work in low resource settings to achieve public health impact
is needed. As a member of an international alliance, USAID supports a major
international research program to develop better measurement tools, strengthen
the evidence base, and enhance developing country capacity to increase maternal
and neonatal program effectiveness. It is also sponsoring research on the
causes of mortality and the impact of micronutrients on pregnancy outcome.
Attention is directed at getting key research findings disseminated and implemented
with links to policy, community and service delivery.
