Polio Eradication Initiative: Strategy

Developed with polio eradication partner organizations such as WHO, UNICEF, Rotary International, and the Child Survival Collaborations and Resources (CORE) Group of NGOs, USAID’s strategy focuses on:

• Building collaborative and cooperative partnerships
• Strengthening and improving health systems
• Supporting polio immunization campaigns and supplemental immunizations
• Developing integrated surveillance approaches and establishing networks of surveillance officers who investigate all reported cases of acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) in children
• Improving and expanding data collection and dissemination
