• Foreign Assistance Act, Part I, Chapter 7 – Debt for Nature Exchanges
  This Chapter provides authority for USAID to engage in debt for nature exchanges involving commercial debt.
  
  
• Foreign Assistance Act, Part IV – Enterprise for the Americas Initiative (EAI)
  This Part creates an interagency program in which USAID is one of a group of participating federal agencies who together reduce official debt of Latin American and Caribbean countries owed to the U.S. in exchange for the creation of local public-private trust funds for the purpose of making grants in environment, child survival and child development.   This Part is modeled on FAA Part IV. It is an interagency program in which USAID is one of a group of federal agencies involved in reducing official debt owed to the U.S. in exchange for creating local funds. The difference is the TFCA is global in scope and the purpose for which the money is used is limited to tropical forest conservation.
