USAID’s Biodiversity Conservation and Forestry Programs

Biodiversity conservation and sustainable forestry are vital for the prosperity and security of all nations. Recognizing this, USAID supports forestry and biodiversity activities in 60 countries around the world. The Agency invested a record $204.5 million in fiscal year 2009 funds toward biodiversity and almost $110 million in sustainable forestry (89 percent of forestry work was supported with biodiversity funds). This report provides USAID’s partners and the public with a summary of the Agency’s latest approaches, activities, and results in these two sectors.
