Centrally-Managed Biodiversity Programs
Due to the global and transboundary nature of priority and threatened ecosystems, USAID supports a robust centrally-managed biodiversity portfolio which informs the design and implementation of conservation actions worldwide. Many central programs develop resources and capacity which improve the practice of biodiversity conservation across USAID and inform the wider conservation and development community. The links below provide descriptions of biodiversity programs that are managed or supported by technical teams, including USAID’s Biodiversity Team, based in the Office of Natural Resources Management (NRM) in the Bureau for Economic Growth, Agriculture and Trade (EGAT) in Washington, D.C.
The majority of USAID biodiversity conservation activities are designed and managed by offices in the Agency’s bilateral overseas missions, with technical support from regional and central bureau biodiversity advisors. Information on biodiversity programs managed by all USAID operating units, including USAID Missions, can be found on their respective web sites and in the current Biodiversity and Forestry Programs report.
