Third-Country Training Improves Albania's System of Solid
Waste Management
A third-country training program undertaken in Hungary during
June and July of 2002 has significantly contributed to concrete
improvements in the system of solid waste management in several
towns in Albania. Due to new knowledge and skills gained during
the training, unsightly garbage dumps have been covered and
planted with grass, public trash baskets installed, rubble removed,
and the rules are now enforced. Realistic fees for collection
have also been introduced allowing the towns to improve their
services. Another training program is planned for July 2003,
which will include simple recycling.

Leads to Solid Success in Cleaning Up Albanian Cities.”
