Office of Democracy & Governance: Implementing Partners

The Office of Democracy and Governance, like the rest of USAID, pursues its mission through development partnerships with the people and governments of assisted countries, U.S. businesses, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), private voluntary organizations (PVOs), academic institutions, other U.S. government agencies and international assistance agencies including international financial institutions, multilateral and bilateral donors and private foundations. In cooperation with its many partners, the DG Office identifies the democracy and goverance needs of a country, assesses the country's commitment to democratic governance, and develops country-specific plans to address the country's needs or to enhance its contribution to the resolution of regional or global problems. The DG Office seeks to build partnerships that facilitate local resource mobilization and action, that encourage local participation and advocacy for democracy efforts, and that foster cooperation among local actors.
