Country Snapshot: Philippines and Conflict Resolution

Photo of a group of women discussing Regional Women's Issues

USAID assists in keeping the peace in Mindanao, including pioneering work with former Muslim separatists. USAID offers assistance and fosters equitable economic opportunity for women and men of Mindanao.

Activities under this program offer technical assistance to credit cooperatives to enable them to offer microfinance services (both savings and credit services) profitably, coupled with health education and business skills to women, particularly those living in the conflict-affected areas of Mindanao.

USAID also supports various women’s fora to promote economic empowerment of women, and women’s role in peace and development.
