Country Snapshot: Cambodia and Education

Training on empowerment of women.
Empowering women to participate in political life enables their participation in society as a whole.

USAID/Cambodia supports the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to improve the quality and efficiency of the basic education system (grades 1-9), strengthen capacities at all levels, increase the relevance of the curriculum, strengthen teachers' skills, particularly in student-centered approaches to enhance student and family perceptions of the education system, and increase enrollment, especially for females. Currently, only 12 percent of women over the age of 25 have more than a primary school education.
