USAID works to reduce population growth, improve children’s health and family nutrition, and prevent the spread of infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS, through intervention and awareness.

Women and children, and men in vulnerable groups, are the principal beneficiaries in all USAID actions in this area. This Strategic Objective has helped to significantly reduce maternal mortality and enhance access to antenatal care. The HIV/AIDS program targets groups that practice risky behavior who can easily spread the disease to the general population.
