Girls' enrollment in primary school has increased from 40% in 1991 to 73.46% in 2005.

Country Snapshot: Benin and Education

USAID and its partners are raising community awareness of the importance of girls’ education and encouraging the enforcement of laws to protect schoolgirls from abuse. It is also working on increasing school enrollment and retention for girls. USAID supports in-service teacher training that includes a focus on increasing girls’ participation and performance.
