USAID Participates in 5th World Water Forum
In March, USAID’s Water Team participated in the 5th World Water Forum, held in Istanbul, Turkey. The largest international event in the field of water, the Forum is organized every three years by the World Water Council.
The gathering provides a "unique platform where the water community and policy and decision makers from all regions of the world can link together, debate and attempt to find solutions to achieve water security."
During the Forum, USAID announced two new water and sanitation initiatives: a public-private alliance with Rotary International that will implement sustainable, long-term water supply, sanitation, and hygiene projects in the Dominican Republic, Ghana, and the Philippines; and an agreement with the International Water Association that will increase access to clean drinking water and sanitation throughout the Middle East and Africa.
