| This photo was taken during OTI's first assessment mission to Macedonia in April 2001, shortly after the armed conflict broke out between Albanian rebels and the Macedonian military. This house was damaged during the fighting. In May 2001, OTI began providing support to augment USAID's capacity to respond to the crisis for a period of six months. Following Parliamentary approval of the Framework Agreement, OTI launched the Confidence Building Initiative (CBI) in October 2001 to mitigate conflict through the development of more participatory, inclusive institutions. CBI field offices are currently operating in five regions across the country. |
