American Schools & Hospitals Abroad is proud to announce our 2012 Annual Conference & Workshop. The event is scheduled for March 20th – 22nd, 2012 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. The purpose of the conference is to discuss ASHA’s program, its mission and the role of USAID Forward. Workshops will include topics regarding the new Grant Process, ASHA’s Grant Cycle, and Monitoring & Evaluation Indicators. ASHA grantees, United States Organizations, Overseas Institutions, prospective grantees, the USAID community and interested parties are encouraged to attend. Registration information coming soon!

The Office of American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (ASHA) provides grants to competitively selected private, non-profit universities and secondary schools, libraries, and medical centers abroad to effectively:

icon depicting a leaf  Provide the benefits of American ideas and practices in education and medicine

icon depicting a leaf  Serve as demonstration and study centers which foster interchange, mutual understanding, and favorable relations with the United States and

icon depicting a leaf  Promote civil societies

Since the inception of the program, ASHA has assisted 237 institutions in over 70 countries, and facilitated the development and sustainment of superior libraries, schools, and medical centers, thus positively impacting the regions where these institutions are located. These include institutions in Africa, Asia, Eurasia, Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean and the Near East. The ASHA office currently manages a worldwide portfolio of over 200 grants and continues to award up to 40 new grants every year.
