Job Summary:
THIS ANNOUNCEMENT HAS BEEN AMENDED TO EXTEND THE CLOSING DATE.
This position is with the United States Agency for International Development's (USAID) Office
of Inspector General (OIG), Office of Management. The incumbent serves as an assistant to the
Assistant Inspector General, Management (AIG).
OIG/M develops and coordinates OIG administrative policies and procedures, resource planning and
management, operational oversight activities and decides most of the policy issues that are associated
with these responsibilities. The operational activities for which the Office is responsible include:
organizational and systems analyses, Washington and field office administrative policies and operations,
long-range planning responsibilities, financial resource management, IT and human capital management.

Major Duties:
You will develop and implement quality control systems to ensure that the Office of Management's
correspondence and communications are in compliance with all relevant agency guidance and direction
and properly reflect OIG policies and procedures.
You will work closely with the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) and Deputy Assistant Inspector
General (DAIG) and staff to coordinate and implement important policy initiatives and related
confidential and controversial OIG projects and reviews.
You will advise the AIG, DAIG and staff on the potential uses and benefits of automation to
improve the efficiency of office programs, and research new and improved business and management
practices for application to the programs managed by the AIG. You will perform special
assignments for the AIG or DAIG that are designed to effect internal improvements in the
office, develop statistics and related data covering administrative and program areas and
report findings in a variety of formats and presentations.
You will review correspondence, reports, publications and other sources of interest to AIG, and
prepare synopses for AIG's review and possible action.
You will review, assemble and provide materials for use by AIG in speaking engagements, and prepare
drafts of speeches or portions thereof as directed.
You will review all correspondence addressed to AIG and determine its appropriate disposition,
compose correspondence for AIG's signature, and personally compose and sign non-technical administrative
correspondence.
You will maintain the AIG's calendar and plan the AIG's official functions and travel arrangements.
You will serve as the Office of Management timekeeper.
Qualifications:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level close to the work of this position that
has given you the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform.
All applicants must meet the minimum requirements of the Office of Personnel Management's
Qualification Standards Handbook.
To qualify based on experience:
GS-09: 1 year equivalent to at least the GS-8 level in the Federal government.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include reviewing correspondence and other written materials
in order to prepare synopses for review and/or action; coordinating meetings; reviewing, assembling and
providing materials for supervisor's use; making travel arrangements and maintaining the supervisor's
calendar.
GS-08: 1 year equivalent to at least the GS-7 level in the Federal government.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include maintaining records, searching prescribed sources
for data, compiling and arranging data in standard formats for projects or reports, and document
preparation.
GS-07: 1 year equivalent to at the GS-6 level in the Federal government.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include receiving telephone calls and visitors,
receiving and controlling mail, reviewing outgoing correspondence for signature of the supervisor
and for proper format, conformance with procedural instructions, grammar, typographical accuracy and
necessary attachments and maintaining the supervisor's schedule.
You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.
After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
In order to qualify for this position, you must possess a secret security clearance.
You must meet time-in-grade restrictions by the closing date of this announcement.
You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. You can self-certify by submitting a
statement that you can type this speed.
