JOB SUMMARY:

This position serves as a Helpdesk customer support specialist and LAN Administrator in Information Management Division, IG/M/IM, Office of Management (IG/M), Office of the Inspector General (OIG), and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). IG/M/IM provides information resources management services for OIG world-wide operations.

Key Requirements:

  • Federal employees must achieve time in grade to qualify
  • Designated and/or Random Drug Testing required.
  • Background and/or security investigation is required.
  • Major Duties:

    You will serve as Helpdesk Support Specialist /LAN Administrator in the Information Management Division and will be responsible for administering and operating the OIG's network support and client services programs.

    You will plan and deliver customer support helpdesk services, including installations, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and/or training, in response to customer requirements via Track-Ot!. Analyze and resolves customer support requests involving integration or configuration related to desktop, laptop and Citrix remote access issues.

    You will provide technical support in the implementation and post implementation of mission critical automated corporate applications.

    You will monitor network servers to ensure optimal performance and analyze server behavior to determine optimum throughput configurations.

    You will monitor appropriate sources for specific security patches and applies them as appropriate or necessary. Perform data and e-mail backup and recovery tasks, analyze and resolve connectivity issues within the network environment.

    You will serve on a technical teams to assist in the deployment and/or implementation of new desktop and LAN solutions.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    You must have one year of specialized experience at a level close to the work of this job that has given you the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successully perform.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

    For the GS-12:   One (1) year specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal government. Examples of qualifying experience include: (1) analyzing and implementing a wide range of hardware and software to support Microsoft Server 2003 and Citrix; perform work such as identifying LAN hardware and software configurations in Script Logic Desktop Authority; (2) implementing technical standards and procedures for LAN operation; (3) updates customer policies, procedures, and helpdesk resources; resolve issues related to user devices such as Blackberry devices, printers, and scanners; serves as technical advisor on activities required to design, implement, and support Windows XP operating systems; training users on computer operations and functionality.

    For the GS-13:   One (1) year specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal government. Examples of qualifying experience include: (1) analyzing, designing, developing, and implementing a wide range of complex hardware and software to support Microsoft Server 2003 and Citrix; (2) perform work such as identifying LAN hardware and software configurations in Script Logic Desktop Authority; (3) developing technical standards and procedures for LAN development, implementation and operation; develops and updates customer policies, procedures, and helpdesk resources; (4) resolve issues related to network connectivity, Blackberry devices, printers, and scanners; serves as technical expert on the planning and coordination of activities required to design, implement, and support Windows XP operating systems; training users on computer operations and functionality.

    You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.

    After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.

    In order to qualify for this position, you must possess a Top Secret security clearance.

    You must meet time-in-grade restrictions by the closing date of this annoucement.

    How You Will Be Evaluated:

    You will be evaluated to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications required; and on the extent to which your application shows that you possess the knowledges, skills, and abilities associated with this position as defined below. When describing your knowledges, skills, and abilities, please be sure to give examples and explain how often you used these skills, the complexity of the knowledge you possessed, the level of the people you interacted with, the sensitivity of the issues you handled, etc.

    1.   Knowledge and experience in computer hardware, software, network connectivity, Microsoft Server 2003 and Windows XP,and LAN-based application software Script Logic Desktop Authority, Citrix, Microsoft SQL, and Symantec Ghost.

    2.   Skills in providing a full range of customer support services to include desktop installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware and software such as Microsoft Office 2003, Prodoc, Blackberry devices, scanners, projectors, and printers; basic familiarity with Remedy.

    3.   Knowledge of security principles and methods; patching, patch verification, network configuration, port security, anti-virus, and data safeguards; COOP and disaster recovery processes and standards.

    4.   Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; train users on basic computer operations and functionality; convey technical topics to non-technical individuals or groups with the use of visual aids.
