I encourage you to explore this site and to learn more about the many ways the American people are providing assistance to the people of Mozambique.

USAID works with many partners around the world to build and sustain democratic, well-governed states that will respond to the needs of their people and conduct themselves responsibly in the international arena.  This year, USAID will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of its partnership with Mozambique.  Since 1984, we have been working with Mozambicans to implement programs designed to bring positive changes in the lives of people and to help address the evolving development needs of Mozambique.

In consultation with other US government and Mozambican partners, we have recently written a new Country Assistance Strategy which we hope will capture some of the exciting new opportunities to reinforce our partnership with Mozambique and take steps toward building sustainable change.  We recognize that it is critical to strengthen the human resources that form the foundation for working institutions and implementation of good policies. As such, our top priorities for 2009 to 2013 are to strengthen democratic governance, improve competitiveness of key economic sectors, reduce the incidence of disease and improve health, and to expand opportunities for quality education and training.

I hope that you enjoy the narratives, success stories and other materials on our website. Please contact us if you have any comments, suggestions, or questions.
