USAID unveiled its new “Strengthening Communities through Integrated Programming” (SCIP) project with dual launching ceremonies in the provinces of Zambezia and Nampula on December 8-9.
Using a coordinated approach across USAID/Mozambique programs, the SCIP project will work to improve the health and nutrition of people living in rural areas of Nampula and Zambezia. Pathfinder International, Population Services International (PSI), World Relief, World Vision International, and the Cooperative League of the USA (CLUSA) have established a partnership to implement the program with the local Nampula and Zambezia governments to strengthen the capacity of government, NGOs, and community-based organizations to provide access to quality health services.
The program will also integrate the Food for Peace Title II Multi-Year Assistance Program to improve nutrition by increasing agricultural production and improving access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities.

Women community health workers perform a song at the launching ceremony, which included messages about health and nutrition, commonly used to educate people in rural areas.
