Office of Sustainable Development
The Office of Sustainable Development is responsible for: leading the bureau's strategic thinking in key technical areas; supporting the bureau and Africa missions by providing analytical and technical assistance related to country programs; and coordinating with donors and partner organizations to promote social and economic development.

Office of Development Planning
This office assumes the lead in defining the overall policy, program, and procedural framework within which the country programs are designed and implemented, plays an active role in identifying and addressing cross-cutting issues, assures necessary budget support and collaborates with all relevant USAID/Washington offices to: develop and monitor the Africa bureau strategy for providing assistance to Africa; manage an efficient, effective, and responsive budget allocation system; and provide outreach in support of the Africa program.

Office of Administrative Management Staff
The Administrative Management Staff provides expert advice regarding Africa bureau structure, mission composition, and the role of regional platforms. It sets administrative processes for the bureau, and plans, manages, and executes budgetary resources for the bureau in Washington. The office: oversees the bureau's Resource Harmonization Model, which seeks to recalibrate staffing and operational resources based on program funding and assistance priorities; represents the bureau in critical management activities and overseas consolidation of services with State Department, strategic workforce planning, personnel assignment, organization management, and administrative support; executes actions regarding personnel, space planning and allocation, travel, security, responses to Freedom of Information Act inquiries, and telephone and personnel directories; and serves as the bureau's center for planning and coordinating continuity of operations.
