USAID partnership helps indigenous lobster fishers and protects ocean resources in Honduras and Nicaragua
The Global Fish Alliance is an ambitious partnership between USAID, Darden Restaurants (Red Lobster) and FHI360 that is helping to protect the health of the mainly indigenous lobster fisherman in Honduras and Nicaragua, while conserving the lobster population and protecting the environment. The Alliance promotes sustainable fisheries and aquaculture practices through the application of a system-wide approach that balances economic, environmental, governmental, and social components essential to enhancing livelihoods and biodiversity. Supported by the U.S. Government and partners, G-FISH brings together government, private sector, and civil society to work collaboratively on specific fisheries around the world
