USAID SIGNS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS REGULATORY AUTHORITY

U.S. Ambassador Michele J. Sison, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator’s Special Assistant to the Middle East George Laudato, and USAID/Lebanon Mission Director Denise A. Herbol participated in a ceremony to mark the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Lebanon’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority represented by Dr. Kamal Shehade, the chairman of the board.

USAID will fund the technical assistance, training, procurement and establishment of the basis for an automated national Spectrum Management System for Lebanon’s telecommunication system.  This will support Lebanon’s economic reforms for the privatization of the telecom sector.

USAID has worked in Lebanon since 1951 and implemented development projects to benefit Lebanese citizens. With funds from the American people, USAID creates jobs, invests in youth and protects the environment.  USAID’s work reflects the strong friendship between the Lebanese and American people.
