الإستثمار في الشباب

أولاد متحمّسون يتفاخرون بمدرستهم المرمّمة حديثا. وهم من بين حوالى 75,000 تلميذا سيستفيدون من أعمال ترميم المدارس العامّة.

يعمل الشعب اللبناني جنبا إلى جنب مع الوكالة الأميركية للتنمية الدولية (USAID) لإحياء الأمل وتحقيق الإزدهار في لبنان. تعود هذه الشراكة بين الشعبين الأميركي واللبناني إلى عام 1951، وما زالت قويّة حتّى اليوم.

 يقدّم الشعب الأميركي حاليا مساهمات بقيمة 40 مليون دولار سنويا إلى برامج الوكالة الأميركية للتنمية الدولية في لبنان. وتقوم الوكالة الأميركية باستثمار هذه المساهمات في خمسة مجالات رئيسية يعتبرها لبنان في سلّم أولوياته، وهي: خلق الوظائف والاستثمار في الشباب وحماية البيئة وتشجيع الحكم الرشيد وإعادة بناء لبنان.

9/7/2010: U.S. Expands Income Generation Projects to Additional Communities Near Nahr El Bared Camp In coordination with the Nahr El-Bared Recovery and Reconstruction Unit at the Office of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the United States government announces a $2.7 million expansion of economic development projects in the second ring around the Nahr El-Bared camp in Bebnine, Mhamarah, Minnieh, Bedaweh, Bhanin, and Deir Imar and adjacent areas.  The expanded project -  funded by U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented under the Cooperative Housing Foundation (CHF) TAMKIN program – is now valued at $11.3 million.  The TAMKIN project is already active in 40 villages in North Lebanon, namely the Akkar, Dinnieh, and Zgharta cazas.  read more...

9/7/2010: ACS Opens an Outdoor Education and Nature Center with U.S.-Funds On September 7, 2010, the American Community School (ACS) opened its Outdoor Education and Nature Center in Deir El Qamar, Chouf.  This center will enable approximately 1,000 ACS students to re-connect with nature, create awareness on ecological and environmental issues, and establish a networking/exchange program with schools in the area.

With funds from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), ACS built this school center, which is the first of its kind in Lebanon.  This 4,000 square meters facility will be used as a meeting and classroom area and can house an average of 30 persons at a time.  The center also includes storage space, bathrooms, showers, and a small kitchen.

7/16/2010: Haigazian University Students Benefit from U.S. Scholarship Support  

On July 16, 2010 Ambassador Michele J. Sison presented $450,081 to Haigazian University to directly support its student financial aid program.  Three hundred and fifty-six (356) Haigazian University students with demonstrable financial need from all over Lebanon will be given scholarships with these U.S. funds, made available through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).  Without this assistance, these students would not be able to study at Haigazian University. 

During their visit to Haigazian University’s campus in Beirut, Ambassador Sison and the USAID/ Lebanon Economic Growth Program Officer Mark Wilt spoke with Lebanese students who have received scholarships funded by the United States.
