Since 1951, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has worked side by side with the people of Lebanon.  Our long-term commitment reflects the strong friendship between our two countries. We have embraced the Lebanese government’s reform efforts, designed to strengthen the public sector’s capacity to provide quality services to its citizens, including improved public education, an efficient judicial system, transparent local governance, and clean water and sanitation systems.  Moreover, USAID has offered economic opportunities for Lebanese farmers, micro-entrepreneurs, small-scale manufacturers, and traders that have not benefitted from the country’s recent robust growth.

This website is designed to give you basic information about our program, strategic areas of focus and success stories. It also offers information on how community organizations, businesses and others can join in our efforts.  As we move forward under this robust strategy we are reinforcing our efforts to facilitate the development of public-private partnerships.

USAID in Lebanon has been a resounding success.  This success is due to the visionary leadership of the Lebanese in the public and private spheres.  I am confident this partnership will continue to strengthen the economy and bolster public institutions, paving the way toward a prosperous future.
