Regional Programs
South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy (SARI/E)
is a regional energy cooperation program covering Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. SARI/E aims to enhance regional energy security through mutual cooperation by focusing on three interrelated program components:
- Cross border energy trade;
- Regional energy market formation, and
- Regional clean energy access partnerships.
SARI/Energy provides pre-feasibility studies, technical assistance, advisory services, training, peer exchanges, mapping and project development in each of the three core areas. Through these activities SARI/Energy promotes more efficient regional energy resource utilization, works toward transparent and profitable energy practices, mitigates the environmental impacts of energy production and increases regional access to energy.
SARI/Energy Implementing Partners include PA Consulting Group (PA), the United States Energy Association (USEA) and the US Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
