Who is who?
Daniel Smolka - Deputy Mission Director 
Daniel Smolka arrived in Honduras as Deputy Mission Director in August of 2008. Before coming to Honduras, he studied for one year at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in Washington D.C. and served as Regional Executive Officer for the Eastern Caribbean while based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Mr. Smolka previously served in Washington as Chief of USAID’s Overseas Management Support Division and as an Executive Officer for USAID Nepal and USAID Honduras while based in Kathmandu and Tegucigalpa respectively.
Prior to joining USAID, Mr. Smolka worked with the U.S. Peace Corps as an Associate Director in Nairobi, Kenya and as Manager of the Peace Corps Recruiting Office in Chicago, Illinois. He also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ghana, West Africa.
Mr. Smolka holds a Master of Science degree in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois. He has two daughters, Katarina and Julianna. |
