Welcome to the USAID/Ghana

The U.S. and Ghana have enjoyed a tradition of cooperation, working in partnership since 1957, when the two governments signed a cooperation agreement in Accra for the exchange of technical knowledge and skills designed to contribute to the development of Ghana.

USAID works in partnership with the Ghana government, private sector and civil society in the areas of Economic Growth, Health, Education and Democratic Governance. In our programs, we have a priority of strengthening Ghanaian institutions.

Ghana is at the forefront of Feed the Future, a U.S. Government initiative to reduce global hunger and strengthen food security. The Ghana Feed the Future (FTF) FY 2011-2015 Multi-Year Strategy outlines the five-year strategic, coordinated, whole-of-government approach to address food security. We are supporting the Ghana Government's own commitment to food security and building on a common purpose shared among civil society, the private sector, and development partners. We are committed to a focused and high-impact approach to transform the major rice, maize, and soya value chains – with particular emphasis on the north.
