August 25, 2011» Preparing for public dialogue around pressing fisheries issues
Chief fishermen, fish mongers and fish processors from Ghana’s Western Region, and officials from the Government of Ghana, conducted study tours in the coastal areas in Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal and Tanzania. There they observed best practices in marine conservation, monitoring and enforcement of fisheries regulations and community participation in fisheries management.

The US Ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture (FAO), Madam Ertharin Cousin, visited Malshegu, near Tamale, in Ghana's Northern Region. The Ambassador reviewed activities implemented under the FAO's World Food Program (WFP) organization. USAID's Senior Development Counselor to the US Mission to the UN, Franklin Moore accompanied the Ambassador. Ambassador Cousin commended the cooperation between USAID and WFP.
