Five business consortia that include Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot partners received grants to pursue a range of ventures meant to improve business and economic relations over the dividing Green Line. At an event organized jointly by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce on February 23, 2011, the five winning partnerships signed their Memoranda of Understanding and described the nature of each of their bicommunal innovations. They include two island-wide radio stations, a joint handicraft venture, an activity related to hearing conservation and a research center that will serve as a repository of comparative polling data. The bicommunal business partnerships grant program is an activity of the Economic Interdpendence project which is supported by UNDP Action for Cooperation and Trust and sponsored by USAID.
