| Position Summary: |
The intern will assist with the dissemination of outreach information to audiences in the United States and the world in support of the vision and mission of the DCHA Bureau. The DCHA Bureau intern will assist in the development of a photo archive for USAID’s DCHA Bureau. Activities to include organizing photos that represent DCHA’s work throughout the world. This will require setting up an MS Access database to capture information about a photo and recording fields that include but are not limited to information about a photo’s sector, program, country and key words as well as uploading photos to the appropriate server. Other duties will include liaising with the DCHA Bureau offices to gather photos. The intern may also assist in the development of outreach materials for the DCHA Bureau. |
| Essential Job Functions: |
Organizing and updating a photo archive for network retrieval and for future web-based retrieval using keywords and other categories. Manipulating photos and graphics as necessary for print and web publications. Writing and editing of one pagers and other Outreach material. Other assignments as agreed upon by the incumbent and supervisor |
| Education: |
Current student status with undergraduate or graduate coursework in one of the following or related fields: Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Graphic Arts, International Relations |
| Experience: |
Six months to one year of relevant experience preferred Specific Knowledge Requirements:
Experience developing content for the web. Strong working knowledge of Photoshop and manipulation of digital photos for inclusion in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe pdfs, and desktop publishing software, e.g., Adobe InDesign, Quark etc. Proficient in MS Access and capable of setting up a database for use by a programmer converting the information to Cold Fusion. Experience with DreamWeaver is highly desirable and some familiarity with Cold Fusion, html, css and server-side includes. Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. |

DCHA/PPM is a fast paced office and interns are expected to be flexible and efficient. Internships are unpaid and will require a security clearance. In order to obtain a security clearance, all candidates must be U.S. citizens and pass a background check. Failure to obtain a security clearance will preclude candidates from obtaining an internship.
