Angola: Kuando Kubango: U.S. to Aid Government On Youth Training

Menongue - The ambassador of the United States of America to Angola, Cynthia Efird, announced on Monday, in Menongue, south-western Kuando Kubango Province that her government will develop soon, through the Social Welfare Ministry (Minars), a training programme, in various fields, for young people based in the province.
The diplomat, who did not advance any amount to be invested in the programme not even the date that it will start, said that the initiative aims to aid the government of that province.
Cynthia Efird was on Monday in Kuando Kubango with the executive deputy-chairman of Chevron Texaco for Research and Production (Upstream), George Kirkland, to learn about the social projects in progress, executed by the International Organisation for Migrations (OIM).
Besides this programme, she advanced that the government of her country, in the ambit of the cooperation relations with Angola, will distribute in Kuando Kubango, in three months, insecticide treated mosquito nets for the population of that province.
The diplomat expressed satisfaction with the progress of the programme, since it is helping to improve the living standard of the communities of that province that has over 600,000 inhabitants, most of whom are peasants.
This project, added the ambassador, is meant for the construction of health posts, schools, foment of agricultural activity, among others, which will be developed in the districts of Menongue, Kuito Kuanavale and Mavinga.
The delegation also included the representative of the USAID, the donor Diana Swian, among others guests.
