Biography of Randy Streufert

Randy Streufert began working for USAID in September 1984. In April 2008 he joined the Senior Executive Service with his appointment as Director of Security.

Mr. Streufert's federal service began in 1973 when he served on active duty at Arlington Hall Station, VA with the U.S. Army Security Agency, the Army component of the military cryptologic services. His service continued later as a civil service employee with the US Army Intelligence and Security Command. At both ASA and INSCOM his duties covered a variety of security programs including coordination of the command's information security program with the National Security Agency. He transferred in 1981 to the US Navy/Air Force Joint Cruise Missiles Project Office. There he was a Contracting Officer for Security Matters responsible for the project's industrial and information security programs.

In 1984 he transferred to USAID and began as a Regional Operations Officer in the Office of Security responsible for security of the USAID missions in Asia, the Caribbean and Central and South America. His supervisory and management responsibilities in the security office began in 1989. He served as the Division Chief responsible for the security programs of all USAID missions overseas, as the Division Chief responsible for the agency's personnel, information and domestic security programs, and in 2005 became the Deputy Director for Security.

Mr. Streufert is the son of a US Air Force Officer and by the time he graduated high school in California in 1968, Mr. Streufert had lived overseas in Japan and what was at the time French Morocco. His stateside residences included Mississippi, Illinois, Nevada and California. He received his B.A. in Political Science from California State University, Hayward in 1972. He is a nature photographer and is married living in Mason Neck, VA.
